If you record yourself crying, the internet will give you more reasons to cry. If there’s two things that will never love you are the streets and the internet
As someone struggling to start RUclips, yes!!! Don't tell me you did just one take, I don't believe it. Even the first take is kinda fake, if I'm crying and I put my phone camera on at that moment. Unless you are recording and start crying midway, or else no!!!
It’s because they have to record themselves, then look back at the video, then post it like. She had so many chances to not post it and rethink her decision yet still did anyways😭🙏
What Selena did was so authentic. Posting herself crying shows she's the most empathic and bravest celebrity there it is. She helped so much of her fans by doing that. 🙃😂
Yes, unless it happens naturally. Like it happens in the middle of talking about something. But if youre already crying, like maybe its not the best idea to film right now. Calm down first. Dont post something you filmed in such an emotional state, just how you shouldnt post something you wrote when you were emotional - youll probably regret it once youve calmed down.
I feel her being a Mexican American she probably was trying to make a post bringing awareness but couldn’t hold back her tears. Which is understandable we act like people don’t cry especially celebrities
@@MarvelousMarrah dude you can wait till you calm up and then make another take saying something actually meaninful, as a mexican with immigrant family on the us I would never picture myself uploading that and I'm not even famous
Lowkey, if you have THATTT much money, power, influence… I REALLYYY don’t need to see you cry. I don’t need to see you cry when there are millions that are actually suffering firsthand. YES, she can absolutely feel sad and disgusted by world news, however instead of filming herself… she can write a cheque, donate her time, share her platform, the list goes on.
She could use her platform to keep people informed. She could share info of lawyers doing pro-bono. She could show stories of immigrants that came here running from bad situations. I just do not like the crying…
it is weaponizing one's emotions and it happenes so much with celebrities. they want you to feel bad for them and forgive them, because that's an instinct for most people. but it's not flying by anymore, hasn't for some time.
@@stvrmistic3700 agreed! Celebrity stan culture is becoming less and less as the class divide becomes greater and greater. I just don’t have the energy to care anymore 😭
I completely agree. I can’t stand all the people who are like “do you expect her to save everyone? What can she do?” Okay straw-man. Like, are they not aware that we live in a country that is ruled by money? She (and other millionaires/billionaires) can quite literally buy their way through activism (which is great when done correctly) but instead, they sit and cry in front of a camera and make pity posts on social media to make people THINK they care, when they don’t. Anyone with a soul would do anything they can to help the people the care about, but these people would rather twiddle their thumbs in their million dollar mansions. And then their fans/rich-worshippers excuse this behavior because apparently the rich and the famous are above empathy and philanthropy.

For me the problem wasn’t even what she is talking about . The idea of setting up a camera, starting the video, stopping the video and watching it over and adding a caption and then posting it is just so cringe . The process is just weird so when I saw it I laughed so hard 😂😂😂
Ikr, like why make a video of YOURSELF crying? She could've just posted a pic, and wrote what she was feeling over the situation and it would've been fine.
THIS. Because if she didn't say **anything** she would have gotten a TON of flack. Like a lotttt. She just went about it in one of the worst ways. It also opens up even more criticism on her lack of reaction towards the genocide in Gaza. I don't like her, but I do feel for her. This was a mistake 😭
What bugs me about Selena Gomez is that’s she’s only Latina when it’s convenient for her. She wasn’t claiming the culture or people until reggaeton and Latin music became really popular around the world in the last 10 years. She only cares when she has a movie or music to promote to her Latin fan base. These are crocodile tears and I’m glad people are calling her out for it.

As a mexican girlie from California, I can tell you that this racism problem has existed for a long time, detention centers where kids are separated from their parents and immigrants suffer less than ideal living conditions has been known, these problems aren't new and it sucks that it takes something as big as a presidential change for people to start noticing these problems. It's so weird seeing her cry about "her people" while Emilia Pérez is rampantly (and mockingly) destroying the progress latinos have made to get rid of the awful, violent stereotype that has been placed on us for soooo long. Girl, the first thing she should be sorry about is contributing to a narco-movie that turns real-life devastation, murders, trafficking, and abuse into a musical filled with harmful stereotypes, performative folklore, awful music, false representation, and a failed attempt of showcasing an entire culture. If she really thought of us Mexicans (and all Latin Americans by extension, because we stand together as true latinos) as "her people" she wouldn't use our culture and folklore as a marketing tactic, she would've learned the language by now. She would stop crying and get to work to aid the people because that's what la raza does. Sheesh.

As the first generation, Mexican American, I appreciate you talking about this and the way you worded it. This is possibly in my opinion the most important video you have ever done.
I can empathize with her and those going through this situation in the US. But to be honest this is prime Selena Gomez. I feel she’s gotten themselves in a performative place with their emotions online and people are over it generally speaking. This is the response she’s getting and I get it.
I just don't understand how you can cry and film yourself??? Its just awkward - Had she made a video about this situation where she is serious and sincere, it would have been a lot better and accomplished something instead of just crying on camera. ......... Like girl, you have money and connections. Make an informative video tackling the seriousness of this without complaining when she has the means to help 🙄 🙄
As a Mexican American, this lowkey pissed me off >:,)) I understand how hard everything is right now. I'm attending school on the East Coast, in a very white area, while my family lives near Chicago. The dread, anxiety, and GUILT I've felt since the raid leaks came out feels almost debilitating at times. But I'm acknowledging how I am privileged when compared to my family members, some of my friends, and the people in my community back home. My best friend called me last night telling me that if things get bad enough, he's gonna have to go back to Mexico. It'd be incredibly difficult for him to come back to the U.S., and this news absolutely broke me. The best I can do is to keep moving forward, spread awareness, y ponerme las pilas. (This turned into more of a rant at the end I'm so sorry lol)
Im sorry for your pain but there is a legal way to do things. My mom is an immigration lawyer who immigrated from Ecuador legally when she was 18. My aunt had to wait 10yrs before her kids could enter America. Yes it’s devastating but worth it to be in America Legally and at peace. I think being here illegally is bad and risky for everyone involved.
@@Alorajones19I understand your perspective, however, how do you do things the legal way when the legal system is broken? The immigration system is cumbersome and inefficient, as highlighted by your comment about your aunt waiting 10 years for her children to enter the US. Plus, many of these immigrants come from poverty-stricken nations; many will not have the resources to enter the immigration system. Also, you also have to take into consideration that the US kind of maybe probably definitely had some influence on why it's facing this current crisis when you look at history. In a way, the US incurred this upon itself.
What I don’t understand is… why hasn’t she gone on camera to shed tears for the maimed and killed children in GAZA? She has been incredibly silent on that issue. Not surprisingly, Hollywood is full of hypocrites.
I'm baffled too .. honestly her defending her j3w bf.. and saying she doesn't care about ppl dying in gaza after she replied to an instagram comment is honestly hypocritical af.
That’s the same thing i thought. She didn’t speak about it, but instead got defensive and “left” insta. she had the audacity to say after this video “now you can’t even have empathy or be sad” something like that. Can’t remember exact words.
Because her man is jewish and she's half Mexican lol, people that are 30+ (not all but alot of people who aren't gen z) only care about their own self interests politically speaking, they lack empathy for others not like them so they act accordingly
@alexanderbayarea I’m actually Latina. She may have spoken about Gaza, but never cried about it. Children were blown up in Gaza, these people are just getting deported back to their countries, not shot or bombed or starved to death. Her reaction isn’t proportional, imo.
I don’t think anyone is asking Selena Gomez to save the world. I think we’re criticizing the fact that she thinks the most effective thing she can do for immigrant families is cry on camera over them. She can donate to immigration services, collaborate with organizations providing support to immigrants trying to get citizenship, donate to individual families on GoFundMe even! Crying and saying “I don’t know what to do” as a global celebrity and BILLIONAIRE is absolutely ridiculous
Keisha, I like how you have your own authentic opinion and stay true to it even if it’s against the “ trending” opinion that’s easy to jump on. This is why I watch your channel
After her saying “I don’t care about choosing ‘sides’” when it came to Black Lives Matter. I lost all reason to care about what she thinks about world issues she only cares when she’s personally affected
I’ve also been back and forth. In the beginning (and I don’t live in the us but I’ve lived there most of my life) I thought it was realistic for someone like you and I to feel upset about the current times and cry. But then I found out Selena is a billionaire?!…girl I know you’re not crying to the void that is instagram about something you can lobby against. I think people on Selena’s age demographic are in this strange head space where it’s giving “my mom and dad make my doctor appointments” when it’s like no you need to be politically active and if you have the money then invest in your communities and schools and what you believe in. That’s how you adult and I feel like she has resources and needs to learn to assert what she wants in this life. She needs to not use her voice but powerhouse through with the dollar that she built up with her empire. But she’s not going to cry as if she’s like anyone else who’s truly hopeless for the situation.
I agree with you about the whole "my people" thing Keisha, she's Mexican, it's not like she's all of a sudden claiming being Mexican because it benefits her, I see nothing wrong with her doing that. However, I still absolutely do not care for her tears, I don't even care if they are genuine because of her absolute lack of empathy when it came to people asking her to speak up on Palestine responding with things like "lol true"- like??? When it's your people suffering turn on the waterworks, start crying, behave like a victim when as a billionaire you do have more power than the average Joe to do something and actually use your platform and resources to create change and raise awareness- sure, she won't be able to change the world overnight but she can still do more than most people in this world. But when it's Palestinian children facing oppression as in being denied basic necessities to literally live, being beaten, sexually assaulted and being displaced you take 73353th break from social media, and quite frankly you just use your platform to show the world that you don't care. I just don't have sympathy for her after that.
She can actually help her community. She can literally vocalize the kind of danger we are in with the current president. IDC if she's a politician I hold any one of my people accountable for the fact that we are being deported and she can't even learn proper fcking Spanish.
Girl I live in America right now and I’m an immigrant, and I’m laughing through the tears at Selena Gomez 🥲 When people are as delusional as her, you really don’t know whether to laugh or cry so you do both 🤷🏻♀️
It's a very emotional subject honestly. Yall are saying "She says she doesn't know what to do but she's a billionaire" She further goes on to say that she will do what she can lol. The hate for Selena truly knows no bounds. Not to mention a Billionaire is simply that. A Billionaire. Do people like you even read what you write???you literally criticicing people for doing exactly what you are doing Saying her tears are real is much of an assuption as saying she is faking them Main difference is that people actually have reasons to believe she faking them She acted in a movie about mexico With no mexican actors Who uses mexico tragedy to sell like any other cartel mafia show about them Then she post a video crying about mexico just to delete later when people hate her for it She has no backbone And it makes sense people think she is faking🤷♂️🤷♂️

Hey Keisha! Latinos (specially Mexicans) are mad at Selena because of Emilia Pérez and the fact that she decided to participate in a movie that disrespects and makes fun of Mexico and its issues. That's mainly the reason of the backlash of the story she posted
I wish people would apply to themselves the same scrutiny they dedicate to online personalities. Girl, people are not that stupid…they understand more than they can communicate tho. The reason they said she can’t cry in public because she’s a billionaire is simply because everyone cries A LOT and they keep it to themselves, which is why they cannot comfort someone who has ALL of her material problems solved. After what she said on twt about BLM in 2016 and the switch up she pulled in 2020 “supporting BLM.” Yeah, Selena never seemed like a genuine person who actually cares.
Exactly. This is why I haven’t bought a single thing from her beauty brand. Ever since then, in my eyes, she has been in line with more conservative views, which happen to be the very group who want people from central and south america to “go home”. I think that’s very whack of her, but that’s just my opinion.
She started claiming her Hispanic descent when Latino music started to gain a lot of momentum in the states. She only does when it’s convenient for her she has even stated that she doesn’t speak Spanish and doesn’t care to learn the language… and then she takes part in a movie (Emilia Perez) that does an extremely poor job of representing Mexicans. Honestly, crying on camera for me is not as cringe as it seems! I feel like I have had moments where I did turn on my camera while crying, and idk it feels as if I’m being heard in the moment which feels like a release! I have posted sincere videos crying on socials but take them down immediately due to embarrassment! However, I weirdly have felt better after putting my emotions out there! I know it seems odd but it’s definitely never been performative!
yeah i came to say this, she have said before she struggles with mental health dissorders, like bipolar, it's obvious she would have histrionic and erratic behaviours.
I honestly thought the video was her being upset about the movie that just came out…then realized thanks to comments. Like. You don’t need to cry on camera. Go ahead and make a post/reel/story about what you’re feeling and say “Here’s what I’m doing to help. Here’s what you can do.” She doesn’t need to buy ten mansions in every state to help. She can donate money to relief aide. She can get her hands dirty.
Recording yourself cry is weird. Like I can't imagine myself being that upset and picking up my phone to record myself. It seems like she wants attention. She should've gotten herself together, expressed her thoughts and asked her audience what they think she should do since she clearly doesn't know.
What about the time she was asked to talk about Palestine, and she said a post wasn't gonna do anything and that she is going off the internet??? And now she is crying on the INTERNET? Miss girl the hypocrisy is craaaaaazyyy
I will always respect your opinions Keisha, but I disagree with a lot of what you said. Selena can def help a lot, and if these celeb billionaires put their money where their mouth is, the world could and would be a lot different. They don’t hold political responsibility, but they have thousands more capital than some communities put together, and in my opinion, they have an obligation to give back to those in a crisis, especially when it’s “their ppl”. If you’re gonna be a billionaire, the least you could do is hoard a lil less of your wealth.
She seemed proud to be apart of Emilia Perez until the backlash hit, and yes people can realize the they were wrong when they are harshly criticized, but something about this feels so inauthentic and immature. I think Selena cares too much about being “liked” by the public instead of actually working on herself
Keish, we know she ain't a politician, but she's rich and influential. One donation from her worth millions would mean nothing for her, one instagram story and hundred of thousands of ppl will donate and talk about a cause. I am not rich nor famous yet I have donated over 200 pounds for the children of Gaza and shared about it dozens of times.
I don't have a problem with someone crying on camera if it just happens. If you are talking and find yourself emotional and shed some tears, that is nothing to be ashamed of.
The reality is that if she truly had the respect for Mexico that she claims to have, she would’ve turned down her role in Emilia Perez. She did us a disservice in her performance and it showed a lack of care for our representation for the sake of claiming a culture she’s never been involved in.
everytime she mentions the idea of children i cant help but think of benny posting his kids on social media in inappropriate ways. and her silence on the massacred palestinian children. picking and choosing when to think of protecting the kids is not cute

Crying? Sure, folks cry all the time. Crying, turning on your camera and filming yourself crying for social media? Girl, please.

Aww thank you
Ronaldo is known to have been very vocal about world issues including Palestine
She's not mexican. She was born in the US. She doesn't even speak Spanish. She can't even communicate with "her people" in their language.
Exactly!! She is evil and is only seeking attention. She doesn't care about Palestinians, Ukrainians and Mexicans at all. It's all about her.
As someone in LA a city being targeted by ICE, there's a lot she can do. There's so many people organizing here. It's a hub for change.
Please never stop singing the “what are you waiting for… or” I look forward to it and I always sing with you😂😭
You spoke so well. Just because she’s rich doesn’t mean she can bring world peace
She can actually help her community. She can literally vocalize the kind of danger we are in with the current president. IDC if she's a politician I hold any one of my people accountable for the fact that we are being deported and
she can't even learn proper fcking Spanish.
Your skin always look so healthy and hydrated! ♡
Nobody with a heart that lives in America right now is laughing at Selena Gomez. So many families are being torn apart right now
Girl I live in America right now and I’m an immigrant, and I’m laughing through the tears at Selena Gomez 🥲 When people are as delusional as her, you really don’t know whether to laugh or cry so you do both 🤷🏻♀️
Celebs just need to stay out of politics period
They do, but for some reason they don’t 😕🤷🏻♀️
It reminded me of the Travis Scott apology vid
Not that one that was horrible 😂
Girl your hair keeps getting more beautiful each video
I realized famous women are scrutinized way more often and held to a way higher standard than men.
It's a very emotional subject honestly. Yall are saying "She says she doesn't know what to do but she's a billionaire" She further goes on to say that she will do what she can lol. The hate for Selena truly knows no bounds. Not to mention a Billionaire is simply that. A Billionaire. Selena doesn't have the power necessary to stop the GOVERNMENT from deporting people that look like her, share her same culture, etc. These tears are very real. Yall will hate on a human being for crying on camera for real world problems and then praise yall favorite actress for crying on camera (Which is ACTUALLY performative) for them thousands she's getting.
Do people like you even read what you write???you literally criticicing people for doing exactly what you are doing
Saying her tears are real is much of an assuption as saying she is faking them
Main difference is that people actually have reasons to believe she faking them
She acted in a movie about mexico
With no mexican actors
Who uses mexico tragedy to sell like any other cartel mafia show about them
Then she post a video crying about mexico just to delete later when people hate her for it
She has no backbone
And it makes sense people think she is faking🤷♂️🤷♂️
You are slowly becoming my favorite RUclipsr girl
Yay thanks babe ily
@ i love u too bestie ❤️
thank you so much for this video! I'm a mix-raced American and I've always seen things with people that are mixed that they need to talk about one side of their heritage or they are fake or just assuming that they don't talk about it. I am genuinely sorry about the shit fire coming out of our government though💜
yes, you can never win but people online are so mean. like this is so real for so many people and heartbreaking!!!
I used to love Selena.
Welcome back!! ❤
Thanks, yet again, for bringing up the cognitive dissonance regarding Palestine! 🙏🏼🇵🇸
We don't expect sports players to speak out on anything because they do not foster a parasocial relationship the same way most celebrities do. Actors and actresses absolutely profit off of who can make their fans defend them the most
Ngl when you shared her video i laughed too. “The children” took me out 😂😂
I fell like Selena is a people pleaser and sometimes it backfires on her, and I say that because i used to be one.
I don’t feel bad. 🤷🏽♀️
Girl you’re such a natural beauty
❤️
Mhm yeah I’ve told my friends and family that if they ever see a video of me crying on the internet to call the police bc that is NOT me
I'm sick of her at this point
5:00 I don't think ppl "expect" that of her bc she's a billionaire but rather they're questioning bc of how she presented herself saying stuff like "idk what to do/I'll do everything I can" blablabla
9:33 I think the nuance here is bc she's currently in hot waters with the Mexican public bc her role in emilia perez, so the timing was just really off imo
18:09 sometimes these things are noticed by fanpages and stuff it's not always haters lurking 😂😂 sometimes it happens to be ppl who care too (I mean the unfollows I find it a bit extra too but a different bio is more noticeable lol
As a mexican myslef, i dont know her !😂
She looks heavily medicated IMO
And you aren't?
She didnt wanna talk about the atrocities in gaza, what they did to kids were way terrible in gaza. Either way any bad things done to kids are bad but why only speak on it when its your people. I can’t fathom how people sit in an empty room by themself press record and cry,end the recording, replay the video and watch yourself doing all that, thats so cringy.
She donated to Gaza though.. stop lying
The thing that rubbed me the wrong way is the fact she said, “my people,” and not “us.” As a Latina, I’ve NEVER seen as a part of our community. And her wording proves that..
😥😥😥😥
Like I’m not even Latino/Latina myself and it rubbed me the wrong way, does she not understand that a majority of the people getting deported are actual criminals or????
If she is not hiding a bunch of people in her house i don't want to hear it.
THATS WHAT IM SAYING !!!
She/they don’t care about the missing children it’s clear to see
Right message but deleting the video was cowardly imo
Hmmm
How so? People were attacking her for crying yet when other non famous people do so it’s okay??
@@gen8916 How so? Because if you’re recording yourself crying it’s because you’re passionate about something. So who gives a shit what people think, stand by what you’re passionate about. Also idk about other celebrities, right now I was talking about one specific celebrity, not to mention one that’s single handily one of the most influential celebrities in recent years.
@@Aly_2014 she deleted the video because people were hounding her per usual. She’s constantly hated on for every little thing she does. As a human being, she can only take so much
fr we can’t control anyone’s actions but our own…you’ve never had a bad take
All this time, all this energy, whether in a compliment or a critique, should be better spend on themselves. I wonder how many people are actually doing something for the issues they care, besides being on the Internet.
Selena: “mi gente Mexico”
Where you from?
TX MADE TX RAISED 🤠🤘🌾
@brandicampbell2448 is she not mexican american why is that a issue?
Selena is a No sabo just like JLO😂
@@joannaalexander1006 thank you, I guess they didn’t know the JLo reference.
I’m a no sabo tambien, pero sabes que, it’s obvious shes “acting” here. She just did a whole movie about Mexican culture(?), so why not donate some of her funds to the deportees or families across the border? Instead of “crying” about it on camera and making blank promises.
I’m not hating, I’m just saying.
Girl, people are not that stupid…they understand more than they can communicate tho.
The reason they said she can’t cry in public because she’s a billionaire is simply because everyone cries A LOT and they keep it to themselves, which is why they cannot comfort someone who has ALL of her material problems solved.
Crying on camera is asking for things, not giving 😅
After what she said on twt about BLM in 2016 and the switch up she pulled in 2020 “supporting BLM.” Yeah, Selena never seemed like a genuine person who actually cares.
Exactly. This is why I haven’t bought a single thing from her beauty brand. Ever since then, in my eyes, she has been in line with more conservative views, which happen to be the very group who want people from central and south america to “go home”. I think that’s very whack of her, but that’s just my opinion.
She also pretended to donate to some Black Lives Matter organization and one of the people who organized it, said she didn't.
I feel like people give her too much grace honestly
Not true remember Wizard of Waverly place like it was a whole Hispanic cast and she spoke a little Spanish there.
Billionaires could solve the hunger crisis easily, do not be fooled by these people they have more power than politicians sometimes
Oh my god AGAIN, AfxinGAIN!!
she's like that meme of that girl filming herself crying on Snapchat 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Keish, we know she ain't a politician, but she's rich and influential. One donation from her worth millions would mean nothing for her, one instagram story and hundred of thousands of ppl will donate and talk about a cause. I am not rich nor famous yet I have donated over 200 pounds for the children of Gaza and shared about it dozens of times.
For something like this, where would you donate to though? (I’m just asking)
Why are people even paying attention to her antics at this point? She's known to be a crazed ex with a victim mindset for YEARS
literally why does she ALWAYS ALWAYS has to act like a poor victim
How is she is a crazed ex? Yall so bitter about her and Justin’s relationship it’s sick
I don't have a problem with someone crying on camera if it just happens. If you are talking and find yourself emotional and shed some tears, that is nothing to be ashamed of.
I think she's just doing this because her movie flopped and it got a lot of backlash
First of all Keisha girl!!!! As if I didn’t already love you!!!! Sierra Leone!!!!! 🇸🇱 hey sistaaa!! 🥰🥰
The reality is that if she truly had the respect for Mexico that she claims to have, she would’ve turned down her role in Emilia Perez. She did us a disservice in her performance and it showed a lack of care for our representation for the sake of claiming a culture she’s never been involved in.
God bless her fr!! Hope everyone is well.
I think people hate billionaires right now. And its extremely valid, i certainly cant muster up an ounce of sympathy for them 🤷🏻♀️
everytime she mentions the idea of children i cant help but think of benny posting his kids on social media in inappropriate ways. and her silence on the massacred palestinian children.
picking and choosing when to think of protecting the kids is not cute
THIS!!!
